    At McKenzie Valley Woodworking & Laser Engraving we give you the opportunity to have your custom design engraved on any of our products, your own products or promotional items. If you think of the laser engraver as just another computer printer that can accept a print command from a graphics application then you can begin to imagine the range of  images that can be engraved on a variety of substrates.

    We have an extensive clipart library which includes the Corel 8.0 collection. If you have the book containing the clipart images just give us the file name and we can see if we have it.

    Give us a general idea of what you are looking for and we will come up with some ideas for you to choose from or design something that serves your specific needs.

    Image Requirements
    Although we can engrave most any image, the output quality of the engraving depends largely on the source image. To get the best results follow the guidelines listed below:

      Illustrations & Clipart
    • Send us your illustration or clipart in a vector format such as Adobe Illustrator 7.0 or earlier *.ai,*.eps, Corel Draw 8.0 or earlier *.cdr, or as a Windows Meta File *.wmf .
    • Color Considerations -- the laser reads each color as a different intensity producing a different depth cut for different shades of color. For best results use minimal amounts of color and set the color intensity in the 10% to 50% range.
    • Font Considerations -- When using specific fonts in your illustrations be sure to include the font when you send the file or convert the fonts to outlines before sending.
    • If possible use a compression utility such as WinZip to *.ZIP the file. This will minimize transfer times when sending via e-mail.

      Photographs & Scanned Images
    • Send photographs to:McKenzie Valley Woodworking & Laser Engraving, P.O. Box H, Vida, OR 97488, Attn.Graphics. Please provide a return address for photograph return.
    • Scanning considerations -- Scan all images at a minimum of 300dpi and if possible increase the image size by 200%. This will produce a very large file not suitable for e-mail transfer. We can accept these large files on an Iomega ZIP 100 disk or on a CD-ROM. Send Disks to: McKenzie Valley Woodworking & Laser Engraving, P.O. Box H, Vida, OR 97488, Attn.Graphics. Please provide a return address for disk return.

      Computer Platform
    • We us the PC platform running Windows 95/98
    • We prefer files and disks be sent in the PC format.
    • If you can not send a PC format disk or file please indicate the format of the disk or file being provided.
